BMW presents the M3 CS with 550 hp

Story by Redacção  Tuesday

BMW unveiled the new M3 CS, which is even more powerful than its predecessor, thanks to the improved work of the German brand's engineers, who reduced the weight of the sports model.

Thus, the new M3 CS features an in-line six-cylinder biturbo engine, the same as the normal M3, with 3 liters, but with an additional 40 hp of power, for a total of 550 hp, compared to the version equipped with the Competition Package, and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. However, this new version comes with a minus 34 kg, benefiting from the work of introducing carbon fiber materials, which were applied to the front splitter, bonnet, air intakes, rearview mirror covers, diffuser, spoiler and trunk bag.

The power of this M3 CS is transmitted to the xDrive all-wheel drive system, which has three different operating modes: 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD, in the latter the latter the torque is sent exclusively to the rear wheels using an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. In addition, the BMW M3 CS is equipped with active suspension and an electronic self-locking differential.

The powerful powertrain allows the M3 CS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and 11.1 seconds to reach 200 km/h, while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 303 km/h.

To stop all this power, the BMW M3 CS has M Compound brakes as standard, in other words, a steel disc and an aluminum centerpiece, with fixed six-piston calipers. In addition, as an option, it is possible to equip this new M3 CS with carbon-ceramic discs, which are hidden behind front tires measuring 275/35 ZR19, while the rear tires are 285/30/ZR20.

The interior of this new M3 is marked by the intensive use of carbon fiber, especially the M seats, Bacquet type, which are standard, to which is joined by a sports steering wheel M. In addition, the center console and dashboard frames also have carbon fiber.

Also note the use of the latest generation of the iDrive system, which has a curved screen that includes an instrument panel with a 12.3-inch screen and a 14.9-inch multimedia screen.

BMW has already announced that it will produce a limited series of this new M3 CS, not specifying the quantity, but made it clear that production will start as early as March.
